1. Collar: Open shirt and lay collar flat. Measure from button to end of buttonhole.
2. Chest: Lay shirt flat with buttons fastened. Measure 1cm under armhole from side to side and double the measurement
3. Waist: Lay shirt flat with buttons fastened. Measure slimmest part of shirt from side to side and double the measurement.
4. Sleeve: Measure from the back centre of the collar to shoulder seam, then measure shoulder seam to end of cuff and combine the measurements.
5. Length: Measure from the back centre of the collar to the hem.
While Eton shirts are designed for durability, enhancing your laundry habits will further prolong their longevity, all while lessening their impact on the environment.
1. No-Wash Refresh: Hang your shirt on a hanger to instantly renew it, increasing its wearability and decreasing energy usage. Opt for outdoor airing if feasible, or indoor airing if not. To achieve a steamer-like effect, place the shirt in the bathroom while you shower.2. Sort Colours: To uphold colour longevity, launder white shirts with similarly hued items, darker shirts with garments of darker shades, and utilise appropriate detergents for each. Initially, wash garments like indigo-dyed shirts separately to prevent colour bleeding, especially during the first few washes.
3. Lower Temperature & RPM: Refer to the care label, which indicates the highest recommended temperature. Consider the level of dirt on your laundry. Contemporary machines effectively clean lightly or moderately soiled items using lower settings, leading to greater energy conservation as the temperature decreases.
Adjust the washing machine to a gentle spin cycle. Reducing the revolutions per minute (rpm) enhances energy efficiency and minimises strain on the fabric.
4. Wash & Dry: Undo the buttons on the shirt, invert it, and raise the collar. Exercise care and dispense an appropriate amount of detergent according to the local water conditions. We advise against using fabric softener.
Gently elongate the cuffs, collar, and front placket. Refrain from twisting the shirt. Allow it to air dry on a drying rack or hanger. Avoid tumble-drying, as it stresses both your shirts and the environment.
