August Stenstrom was a Swedish tailor from Helsingborg. Known for his outstanding reputation, his shirts were well sought-after by the fashion-savvy gentleman of 1899. Stenstrom was unable to keep up with the demand. He decided to open a purpose factory where he could personally oversee the production of a larger quantity of shirts.
With a flourishing business, the Stenstroms name began to spread oversees. Helped by the sailors that would travel into Helsingborg harbour. They would return home dressed in the label's garments, allowing Stenstroms to become a global name in the luxury fashion market.
